Dr. Goodman received her Doctor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. Following a residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she completed the prestigious Fellowship in Corneal Diseases at The Wilmer Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. She has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has given lectures and training courses to other surgeons around the country.

Dr. Goodman is a corneal specialist, recognized nationally as an authority and teacher of advanced vision correction techniques.  She has been performing Excimer laser surgery since its early development in 1989 and has served as a clinical investigator for the Excimer laser companies VISX, Inc., and Lasersight Technologies, Inc. She is dedicated to providing the latest technology to her patients and customizing each treatment to her individual patient's needs. She utilizes the most advanced techniques in cataract surgery and can offer her patients all of the newest lens technologies.

Dr. Goodman is also very involved in the community and volunteering. She spends time giving lectures to educate the community about eye health and eye problems. She feels that it is important for patients to be knowledgeable about their eyes and to participate in the decisions that involve them. She spends time teaching young physicians and medical students. She recently had the opportunity to fulfill a longtime dream by volunteering on a medical mission to Guatemala. 

Dr. Goodman is on the medical staff of the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, South Shore Hospital and Quincy Medical Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery and on the board of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and the New England Chapter of the Glaucoma Foundation.
