Dr. Solá-Del Valle is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

He is currently on the medical staff of South Shore Hospital.

Dr. Solá-Del Valle graduated magna cum laude with high honors in biochemical sciences from Harvard College, where he also won the prestigious Thomas T. Hoopes prize for his research in structural biology. He attended the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as one the top students in his class. He was also awarded the Behrens Memorial Prize, the Louis Gibofsky Memorial Prize, the Alfred Steiner Award and the Aura Severinghaus Award for his academic accomplishments in research, medicine and ophthalmology. While in medical school, he also completed the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship, which led to a significant number of peer-reviewed publications. He was then accepted at the currently ranked number one eye institute in the country, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL, where he completed sub-specialty training in glaucoma. He was awarded the Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship during this year making him one of the top ophthalmology fellows in the country in 2015-2016. Dr. Solá-Del Valle is a glaucoma and cataract surgeon. He remains active in a variety of academic pursuits including ophthalmology research and national presentations.
