Dr. Gerald Tanguilig began his studies at the University of Virginia, receiving his undergraduate degree with distinction, then went on to work as a research technician at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.  After graduating from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, he completed his internship at Tulane University Medical Center and Charity Hospital in New Orleans.  Dr Tanguilig trained in Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland, where he was distinguished to serve as Chief Resident.

Dr. Tanguilig has performed research at both the basic science and clinical levels, published in peer reviewed journals, and presented his work on a national level. However, he takes greatest pride in dedicating himself to his patients and to his community. He has been involved in numerous volunteer activities including eye care for the homeless, citywide glaucoma screenings, and ongoing free eye screenings for the elderly.

He is a Surgeon in Ophthalmology at the Cape Cod Eye Surgery & Laser Center, and maintains clinical privileges at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Cape Cod Hospital.

Dr. Tanguilig is a member of various organizations, including the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the New England Ophthalmological Society.
